Change Management Case Study: CoreNet Global
CoreNet Global is the world’s leading association for corporate real estate (CRE) and workplace professionals, service providers, and economic developers. Nearly 7,000 members, who include 70% of the Fortune 100 and nearly half of the Forbes Global 2000, meet locally, globally and virtually to develop networks, share knowledge, learn and thrive professionally. As they sought to take their workplace to the next level, CoreNet Global partnered with Stegmeier Consulting Group to ensure their workforce would be ready for the changes.
How Stegmeier Consulting Group contributed to CoreNet Global’s workplace success:
The group’s long-term lease of 12,000 square feet was ending and afforded the opportunity to combine a workplace transformation with a new lease of less than 10,000 square feet. The new, seven-year lease would reduce space usage by 17 percent. The availability of an open floor plate and competitive leasing rates were key factors in the decision by CoreNet Global to relocate.
Ultimately, though, the decision to relocate and bring about a new style of working was rooted in its focus on the workforce. “The main goal was to move toward an open, collaborative environment that supports teamwork along with the brand identity and culture of our membership,” said CoreNet Global CEO Angela Cain. As a professional organization that supports thousand of workplace professionals, CoreNet’s workplace was lacking. Rooted in highly-siloed, traditional work environment, their workplace did little to inspire employees. Space was used ineffectively and there were very few collaborative areas.
Stegmeier Consulting Group was engaged by CoreNet to lead change management efforts to transition the staff to new ways of working. We worked with a project team of representatives from other top industry companies such as Haworth, Steelcase, Herman Miller, IA Interior Architects, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Colliers, as they contributed knowledge, services, and products from their respective areas of expertise. Through the orchestrated efforts of these diverse industry specialists, CoreNet’s managers and staff were well-prepared to work in the more open and collaborative space, and were poised for the cultural shift they faced in the new work environment.
